ENGL1010 — Rhetoric & Composition
This course is designed to strengthen students’ abilities to read, write, and think critically. Through purposeful engagement with the writing process, students will draw from their own experiences and observations to draft organized, well-developed, coherent essays and multi-modal texts for diverse audiences. They will be introduced to academic research methods, including analysis, summary, synthesis, and documentation of nonfiction texts. Emphasis is placed on students learning to evaluate their writing independently and collaboratively, revising for meaning and clarity, and building confidence in their ability to navigate a variety of writing situations. Students are expected to enter the course with a firm foundation in essay format, structure, and grammar.
