ASL 001 — covers the beginning fundamental principles of American Sign Language a visual/spatial language used by Deaf

people in the United States and Canada. ASL introduces basic information and cultural/ historical background about the Deaf community and Deaf culture. is course is recommended for students who encounter Deaf people in their working environment, or who are majoring in American Sign Language/Deaf Studies. ASL 001 is as a prerequisite for students who wish to enter an Interpreter Preparation Program. Students are expected to attend outside Deaf events at their own expense.
