SPAN 1500 — - Spanish Latin American Culture

Prerequisite: none Corequisite: none This course is an introduction to the civilization and culture of Spain and Spanish America. Students will learn about the pre-Columbian era that existed before the arrival of the Spaniards, including the Olmec, Maya, Toltec, and Aztec civilizations. The destruction of the pre-Columbian civilizations by the Conquistadors will also be analyzed. The course is taught in English; no previous knowledge of Spanish is required.
