Prerequisite: Reading College Level or placement determined by assessment score Corequisite: none This course is an introduction to the history of the United States to 1877. Students will learn about the major historical events, figures, movements, and controversies from the indigenous period, the colonial period, and through the early history of the United States to 1877. Topics include: Native American culture, European exploration and settlement, the American Revolution and the founding of the republic, slavery, the territorial expansion of the United States, Sectionalism, Civil War, and Reconstruction.
