GEOG 1250 — - Physical Geography

Prerequisite: Placement determined by a college ready assessment score in reading Corequisite: none This course will introduce the physical processes that are at work on the surface of the earth. Students will learn the processes that influence the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere. Topics include earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, blizzards, winds, precipitation, the water cycle, vegetation, soil and life. This course includes a basic understanding of how these systems interact and how the physical landscape interacts with human landscapes. Included in this section will be discussions about environmental problems such as acid rain, soil degradation, desertification, and rain forest destruction. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): 3, 10
