ENGL 0225 — - Critical Reading and Writing Concepts
Prerequisite: Placement determined by a minimum entry assessment score in reading Corequisite: none This course is designed to help students learn and develop critical reading skills necessary for comprehending, analyzing, and interpreting college-level material. Students will be introduced to a variety of genres, including fiction Course Listings & Descriptions and non-fiction. In addition, students will learn about the writing process as it relates to drafting, revising, and editing. This course covers the basic rules of Standard Written English. The course emphasis will also include sentence structure, grammar and usage, punctuation, vocabulary, spelling, writing style, and organization of paragraph and essay forms, using specific evidence and explanations to support the controlling or main idea.
