CHEM R130 — Organic Chemistry I
This course studies the fundamental principles of organic compounds with an emphasis on the practical applications of functional groups, reactivity, physical properties, chemical reactions, and methods of synthesis of organic molecules. The reaction mechanisms will be discussed through the reaction pathway. The lab portion of the course will allow students to engage in experiments that provide concrete examples of the typical organic lab techniques and course contents covered in the lecture. Laboratory activities include Chemical Safety along with the preparation, isolation, purification, and characterization of Organic Compounds.
