MGF1130 — Mathematical Thinking

MGF 1130 -- Mathematical Thinking 3 College Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer) Through this course, students will utilize multiple means of problem-solving through student-centered mathematical exploration. The course is designed to teach students to think more effectively and vastly increase their problem-solving ability through practical application and divergent thinking. This course is appropriate for students in a wide range of disciplines/programs. This course fulfills the Gordon Rule of computation requirement and must be completed with a grade of C or higher (pursuant to state board of education rule 6a-10.030). Prerequisite(s): Students who are exempt from placement testing may enroll in this course with no prerequisites. Students who are NOT exempt from placement testing may meet the prerequisite through any one of the following: (1) 114 or higher on the math section of the PERT OR (2) successful completion of MAT 0022 or MAT 0028 with a grade of “C” or better or equivalent or higher mathematics course.
