RED 4519 — Diagnostic and Corrective Reading Strategies

This course has teacher candidates develop their knowledge of reading acquisition and factors that affect reading acquisition across different age groups and among all student populations. Students will diagnose and assess students in at least one major reading component. They will use assessment data and knowledge of the reading process to develop assessment plans that are differentiated instructional plans that address a student’s strengths and needs. Students must have access to a K-6 student(s) to complete assignments. This course specifically addresses Competencies 3 and 4 for Florida’s Reading Endorsement.
