LIT 49H — POPULAR LITERATURE HONORS

Literature 49H examines a specific genre or theme within the field of popular literature. Students explore the historical, socio-cultural, political, and literary contexts that foster the development of the genre or theme; the critical conversations surrounding the genre or theme; its traditional and emergent conventions; and its impact on audiences and the development of mainstream and genre literature. The honors course is enriched through extensive reading in primary and secondary sources, a formal presentation, an essay, and/or an annotated bibliography.Credit may be earned in either LIT 49 or 49H, but not both.
