HD 252 — TEACHING LITERACY IN A PLAY-BASED EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM

Students will explore how a play-based early childhood program can foster children's emerging reading and writing abilities in developmentally appropriate ways. A child-centered approach and the California Preschool Learning Foundations will be emphasized, as well as current early childhood research and theory. The course is appropriate for early childhood educators and parents of young children.
