HD 160 — ADVANCED CURRICULUM PLANNING
This course engages students in an advanced study of the curriculum in early childhood classrooms. The underlying theoretical principles of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) in an effective play-based learning space will be emphasized. The theoretical perspectives of Dewey, Erikson, Montessori, Piaget, and Vygotsky will provide a foundation for the topics covered in this course. Additionally, students will be introduced to effective strategies for evaluating and rating individual classrooms. This course may be applied to the California Child Development Permit.
