BIO 64 — FIELD STUDIES: DESERT ECOSYSTEMS

This field course introduces students to interrelationships among plant/animal communities and physical environments that characterize desert habitats. Topics will include natural history, ecology and diversity of desert flora and fauna, and human impacts to desert ecosystems. Introductory lectures complement direct field observations and experiments, data collection and analysis. The course is taught primarily in the field. It is intended for both science majors and non-majors. Students are limited to taking four field study courses in life sciences (BIO 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, or 109) for a maximum of 5 units.
