ARTH 23 — AFRICAN, OCEANIC, AND INDIGENOUS NORTH AMERICAN ART
This course is a chronological, thematic and comparative study of the indigenous art of sub-Saharan Africa, the African diaspora, Polynesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Australia, and North America. The course addresses prehistoric to contemporary forms of artistic expression in these regions within their historical, geographical, religious and sociocultural contexts. In addition, the course will assess how the politics of colonialism and the impact of globalization have influenced the visual arts. C-ID ARTH 140.
