Development of fundamental coding techniques using the current International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification (ICD-CM). Emphasis is placed on specificity and the application of professional standards in the assignment of codes to diagnoses and procedures adhering to coding guidelines. In addition, the study of clinical classification systems, terminologies and vocabularies will be covered. Prerequisites: HIM115 and HCC116.
