HSCI 1254 — Patient Care Technician
This course prepares students for the Patient Care Technician (PCT)- Direct Care Worker role in health care settings. Emphasis is on the knowledge and skills needed by the PCT to provide quality basic care in a healthcare agency or independent assistance to patients in the home setting under the supervision of registered nurses. Basic nursing and home health care, safety, infection control, emergency situations, and issues related to nursing practice are introduced. This course includes classroom instruction and campus laboratory skills practice.
