MUS 231 - Advanced Integrated Theory I MUS 231 - Advanced Integrated Theory I MUS 2222. Description: Advanced theory of music correlating concepts of part writing, sight singing, ear training, dictation and keyboard harmony. Part writing skills using 7th chords, secondary dominants and altered non-harmonic tones, modulation and borrowed chords; sight singing and dictation skills through altered intervals and syncopated rhythms; keyboard skills realizing a figured bass. Required of music majors. Identify altered non-harmonic tones and chords. Identify borrowed dominants and leading tone chords. Use modulation using the above concepts. Identify other borrowed chords. Identify 9th, 11th and 13th chords. Identify Neopolitan and augmented 6th chords. Develop form and analysis. Develop vocal interpretation of music through sight singing.
