MSL 101L - Basic Military Science I Laboratory MSL 101L - Basic Military Science I Laboratory Description: Leadership laboratory with emphasis on military leadership and small unit tactics. Students develop leadership abilities through hands-on practical experiences. Training is introductory in scope and includes operations and tactics and land navigation subjects. Practical training exercises familiarize students with the field environment and field survival skills. The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) is administered to assess the state of physical development. Students will learn how the personal development of life skills such as goal setting, time management, physical fitness, and stress management relate to leadership, officership, and the Army profession. The focus is on developing basic knowledge and comprehension of Army leadership dimensions while gaining a big picture understanding of the ROTC program, its purpose in the Army, and its advantages for the student.
