PTA148 — Medical Foundations for the PTA I
3 credits This course introduces students to the fundamental medical concepts of pathology and pharmacology as they relate to physical therapy practice. Students will explore common diseases, disorders, and injuries, emphasizing their etiology, signs and symptoms, progression, and impact on rehabilitation. Basic pharmacological principles will be introduced, including drug classifications, mechanisms of action, and their effects on physical therapy interventions. Additionally, medical terminology relevant to pathology, pharmacology, and physical therapy will be integrated throughout the course to enhance communication and documentation skills.
