WS V01 — Water, Society, and Sustainability
This course examines the relationship between water and human society through social, political, and economic lenses. Students explore how cultures, institutions, and governments manage and distribute water resources, and how those decisions impact communities, agriculture, and the environment. Topics include water policy and law, equity and access, sustainability, and the role of technology and behavior in water conservation. Through case studies of California, the U.S. Southwest, and global regions, students analyze the social behaviors, institutions, and cultural values shaping water use and governance.
