This course covers the intermediate-level fundamentals of Mexican folklorico dance. It explores dances from multiple regions of Mexico and their historical context, while also examining the music, syncopations, and rhythms used in various performances within regional settings. Emphasis will be placed on refining technique, introducing new movements, and developing the intermediate technical skills learned in Mexican Folklorico II. Students will develop flexibility, strength, control, coordination, endurance, style, and a deep understanding of the influences, history, and cultural significance of Mexican folklorico dance forms.
