DANC V02 — Western Concert Dance History

This Western Concert Dance History course explores the artistic developments in the field of Eastern European and Western concert dance forms from the15th century to the present time. The course focuses on the cultural, social and political topics of Ballet, Modern/Postmodern, Jazz, Tap and Musical theater. With a strong underpinning of how cultural diasporas have influenced and shaped concert dance forms. Through readings, lectures, discussions, and extensive viewing of film/video and live performance, students come to understand the rich lineage of these dance forms.
