ANT 2410 — CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY
Cultural anthropology attempts to explain the similarities and differences in human behavior, social institutions, and ways of life of all people, past and present, by studying living cultures worldwide. This course will examine how cultural anthropologists carry out research in order to understand the ways people live in groups, create culture and adapt to their environments. A variety of topics are covered including the concept of culture, culture change, human diversity, communication, marriage, economics, subsistence, globalization and human migration, kinship, politics and power, social organization, anthropological research and field methods, ethical issues in anthropological research, and the application of anthropological thinking to real world scenarios.
