Historical survey of the visual arts covering selected works of painting, sculpture, architecture, and other arts studied in relation to the cultures producing them. This course explores the global history of art and architecture from about 1600 to the end of the 20th century. Emphasis is placed on the continuing evolution of artistic themes, styles, and techniques, the relationship of art to social, political and philosophical contexts, and connections of past art and culture to the present
