LAWW 50503 — Energy Law
governs the life cycle of energy resources, from resource development and generation of electricity to the end use in homes, businesses, and cars. In this growing area of practice, energy lawyers represent energy companies, public utilities, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. The course provides a survey of how different sources of energy - hydropower, oil and natural gas, coal, nuclear energy, and renewables - are regulated. Through this survey, we will consider important policy issues such as public utility regulation and the role of markets; the federal-state balance; and environmental impacts and the future of clean energy.
