Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is a comprehensive tool used to perform systems analysis of environmental, economic, and social impacts associated with a product supply chain. This course will enable participants to develop a hands-on, in-depth understanding of LCA to assess the environmental sustainability of products and supply chains. Topics covered include sustainability and systems thinking, life-cycle assessment (LCA) method, ISO standards, computational structure of Life Cycle Inventory, environmental LCA, economic input-output LCA, and related analysis. Case studies will be used throughout the course to demonstrate concepts and principles, and to highlight accomplishments and practical limitations of life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA).
