ARHS 461H3 — Honors African Art and Society

Situates the artistic production of modern Africa (1800-present) within a socio-cultural framework, taking into consideration the role of the artist, the methods of production, the relationship between form and function, and the impact of geopolitical shifts (including intercontinental trade, colonialization, and globalization) on the artistic practice. Prerequisite: ARHS 21003 and honors standing. (Typically offered: Irregular) This course is equivalent to ARHS 46103 .
