When a student has a nonacademic reason for not completing one or more of the assignments for a course, including examinations, and wishes to receive an incomplete for the course, it is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor in person or in writing of the reason. A grade of incomplete is awarded at the instructor’s discretion and not the student’s prerogative. The instructor establishes the period of time given to a student to remove an “I, ” subject only to the maximum time limit set by the College. The maximum time limit specifies that the “I” shall be removed no later than the end of the following academic term (two [2] summer sessions counting as an academic term) after receiving the “I, ” regardless of whether the student is enrolled or not. Failure to remove an “I” within the established time limit will result in a final grade of “F” or the grade earned as determined by the instructor. The Registrar will assign a grade, as determined by the instructor, when the time limit expires.
