Global Studies This course stresses the commonalities, rather than the differences, of people around the globe. The concepts of culture, values, diversity, perspectives, conflict, interdependence, and change are central to the course and are used to analyze such issues as peace and conflict, world hunger, population, human rights, and economic interdependence. This course seeks to understand global issues, how others view these issues, and the effects these issues have on the world. This course requires at least one paper using a documentation format. (Offered on demand) HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY HIMT 10043 3 CR. (3 LEC.) Medical Terminology Medical terminology is the study of the principles of medical word building to help the students develop the extensive medical vocabulary used in health care occupations. Students receive a thorough grounding in basic medical terminology word construction through a study or root words, prefixes and suffixes. The study focuses on correct pronunciation, spelling, definition, and use of medical terms. Anatomy, physiology, surgical procedures, diagnostic procedures, symptomatology, and pathology of disease are introduced yet no previous knowledge of these topics is required.
