RADG 10101 - Medical Ethics & Law RADG 10101 - Medical Ethics & Law The content of this course is designed to provide a fundamental background in ethics. The historical and philosophical basis of ethics, as well as the elements of ethical behavior, is discussed. The student examines a variety of ethical issues and dilemmas found in clinical practice. An introduction to legal terminology, concepts and principles are also presented. Topics include misconduct, malpractice, legal and professional standards and the ASRT scope of practice. The importance of proper documentation and informed consent is emphasized. A study of the concepts of care of the patient in radiology including both physical and psychological conditions. General nursing procedures, patient preparation for radiographic procedures, the basic forms of contrast media and the precautions for administering such and emergency care are discussed. The student prepares to deal with patients in a manner that does not add further discomfort or injury or hinder recovery. The basic concepts of IV therapy are covered in the course.
