PBHL 6100V — Directed Study
PBHL 63033 Community-Based Program Design (3 Credits) This course will use an interdisciplinary approach to public health program design, incorporating the community-based participatory model. Students will gain experience in examining background epidemiological data in order to design an appropriately targeted intervention for a population. Survey, qualitative, and qualitative designs will be explored. PBHL 63463 Social Determinants of Health (3 Credits) This course is designed to examine the scientific basis for associations between social factors, both contextual (e.g., poverty, housing, education) and interpersonal (e.g., racism, social support, stigma), and health. In addition, students will be challenged to consider social factors in understanding the epidemiology of diseases, the design and implementation of health protection/promotion programs, and the implementation of health policy.
