Emphasis is placed on understanding core principles of assessment as they apply to literacy instruction, consistent with recommendations from the International Dyslexia Association’ s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. The course reviews the distinction between various assessment tools and their practical purposes within response to intervention (RTI) frameworks and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Must be taken concurrently with Field Experience II, ELED 30002 .
