Add to Bookmarks Three hours lecture. Three credit hours. Was BIOL 4311. This course examines the functioning of the nervous system, with emphasis on vertebrates—in particular, humans. The course covers the structure and function of neurons as the fundamental unit of the nervous system, functional neuroanatomy, and the basic principles of nervous system development. The students will learn the mechanisms of cell-cell communication, neural circuits, nervous system degeneration and repair, and to some extent, cognitive neuroscience. At the end of the semester, the students shall understand how the brain network controls human behaviors.
