Provides an introduction to Maritime Shielded Metal Arc Groove Welding and covers equipment setup, adjustment and maintenance, safety and electrode selection. Includes preparation of labs to develop welding skills on carbon steels using small and large diameter covered electrodes in all positions on groove welds. Provides an introduction to specific types of electrodes and base materials used in SMAW II welding. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours.
