FIRE 135 — Fire Prevention
Prerequisite(s): READ 02 or Reading placement of ENGL 111. This course provides an in-depth exploration of fire prevention strategies and their practical applications across various environments. Students will examine the principles of fire science, including the chemistry of fire, ignition mechanisms, and fire behavior, alongside legal frameworks governing fire safety and prevention. The participants will learn to identify fire hazards, assess risks, and implement effective prevention measures. The course covers key topics such as fire detection systems, fire suppression technologies, emergency planning, and public education strategies. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop, evaluate, and manage fire prevention programs in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ultimately contributing to enhanced safety and fire risk mitigation in their communities.
