WET 1145 - SMAW Theory and Lab WET 1145 - SMAW Theory and Lab 3 Credits Topics include safety, selection and preparation of welding joints, carbon and low alloy steel electrodes, machine setup, and welding techniques. Blueprint reading and symbols will be covered and is a part of the lecture portion of this class. Welding Lab projects will provide students with the necessary skills necessary to meet AWS D1.1 acceptance criteria for SMAW fillet weld and groove welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions on mild carbon steel.
