MTHX 1110 — Algebraic Structure

Students will learn how to demonstrate knowledge of groups, rings, and fields using the system of integers and rational number models; and the derivation of algebraic properties of these systems. Topics include the basic concepts of set theory, operations involving sets, abstract mathematical systems, and the use of deductive and inductive reasoning with proofs.
