FRSH73 — R/W for Social Studies:Contemporary World Issues

This theme based English course integrates reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills around assignments and activities focusing on contemporary world issues. Students will examine diverse societies from around the world and explore the major issues that affect our ability to connect and thrive as a global community. Possible topics include: homelessness, poverty, immigration, human rights, and social and economic inequities. This competency based class allows students to work at their own pace, exit at a level appropriate to demonstrated skills and knowledge, and earn possible high school completion Social Studies (Contemporary World Issues), English, and/or elective credits.
