Topics and techniques include lab safety, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), agarose gel electrophoresis, plasmid construction, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), mammalian cell culture, rapid plant genotyping, and other molecular research techniques. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized microcredentials through the Bioscience Core Skills Institute (BCSI) during this course and will continue to build a resume for future employment in the field. Potential BCSI microcredentials earned: Small Volume Metrology, Preparation of Solutions, Intrumentation: pH, Quantitative Skills I, Light Microscopy, Aseptic Technique: Lab Bench Level, and Lab Safety: Clean Up.
