SOC 103 — Introduction to Social Work

Credit Hours: 3 Prerequisite: None. Provides background knowledge of the field, an overview of social problems and social services, and methods of social work practice. Topics may include poverty, substance abuse, mental illness, crime, family, education, racism, and sexism among others. Each topic is discussed with an interest in identifying the opportunities for and challenges to effective social work. Offered Fall and Spring.
