This course focuses on essential pharmacological principles and clinical application. Topics include pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic uses, common dosage ranges, routes of administration, adverse reactions and interactions of major drug cate gories. Emphasis is placed on principles of drug action in relation to nursing responsibilities in patient care. Topics are presented within a conceptual framework incorporating the nursing process. Supervised clinical practice in other NUR courses will co ncurrently correlate with the theoretical material. Students are expected to adhere to the standards of nursing practices as set forth in the Illinois Nursing Act and Rules for the Administration of the Illinois Nursing Act.
