This course examines psychological principles underlying educational practice. Theories concerning cognitive and psychological development, human learning, and motivation are studied with emphasis on application for instruction, including assessment. Empha sis will also be placed on learner-centered instruction and diversity. A minimum of ten clock hours of supervised clinical experiences will be required. A grade of C or above must be earned for teacher certification. In accordance with Illinois State Board of Education certification rules, all candidates seeking teacher certification are required by Spoon River College to obtain a grade of “C” or better in all directed general education courses, all core courses, and all courses in the option.
