BCN 4316C — Virtual Design and Construction
This course introduces students to Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) principles and their application to planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. Emphasis is placed on the use of digital models as decision-support tools, integrating geometry, data, and workflow to improve constructability, coordination, and project outcomes. Students apply Building Information Modeling (BIM) and related digital technologies to analyze design intent, detect conflicts, evaluate construction sequencing concepts, and support collaboration among project stakeholders. The course focuses on model-based thinking, information flow, and constructability, rather than on software proficiency alone. Prior completion of AutoCAD or Revit courses is highly recommended for success in this course.
