BCN 3724C — Advanced Construction Scheduling and Planning

3 credits · 3 hours

This course provides an advanced study of construction scheduling and planning methods used to plan, monitor, and control complex construction projects. Emphasis is placed on Critical Path Method (CPM) development, schedule logic, resource planning, risk-informed scheduling, and schedule control techniques consistent with industry best practices and Project Management Institute (PMI) Construction Professional (PMI-CP) principles. Students develop and analyze detailed construction schedules that reflect means and methods, sequencing constraints, procurement lead times, and execution risks. The course focuses on schedule quality, realism, and decision-making, rather than software operation alone. Students evaluate baseline schedules, perform updates, assess impacts of changes and delays, and develop recovery strategies to maintain project objectives. Completion of BCN 1701 is recommended to be successful in this course.
