AML 3201 — Major Movements in American Literature since 1865
Through an emphasis on major literary movements since the Civil War, this course explores texts representative of American realism, naturalism, the Harlem Renaissance, modernism, and post-modernism. It examines how political, philosophical, and technological developments have influenced the creation, distribution, and interpretation of literature since 1865. The course highlights a range of perspectives and experiences that have shaped American writing during this period. Additionally, students will be introduced to key schools of thought and major trends in American literary criticism. This course involves extensive reading and writing.
