DMS 164 - Introduction to Clinical Education DMS 164 - Introduction to Clinical Education Clinical Hours: 6 Description: This course is a supervised clinical experience and practice designed to introduce the student to the Diagnostic Ultrasound Department. Course Topics: Medical ethics, law, infection control, communication and patient care as it relates to sonography Ergonomic techniques and awareness of work-related MSK injuries Sonographic hands on imaging techniques including image optimization Medical and sonographic technology Biological effects of sonography and ALARA Scope of practice for sonographers Achievement of clinical competency through the performance of sonographic exams Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Chaser’s Bark Shop website Required Materials: Windows based computer with Internet access Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
