INET2014 — CNC Machining
3 Credit Hour(s) This course introduces students to the principles and concepts of CNC (Compter Numerical Control) machining. Topics include safety, NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) standards for CNC operations, 3D axis orientation and alignment, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, print reading, job setup and layout, tool selection, tool wear, system lubrication, precision measurements and tolerancing, and quality assurance. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
