NUR 1210 — INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH AND ILLNESS CONCEPTS

Prerequisite: NUR 1109. This course focuses on the care of clients with health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the application of the nursing process in interdisciplinary practice to prevent, promote, maintain, and restore health throughout the lifespan. Concepts of client-centered care, culturally sensitive care, informatics, safe practice and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences provide the student opportunities for collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team while focusing on providing safe quality, client-centered care to the client experiencing pathophysiologic alterations. (10 semester credit hours)
