NUR 1109 — FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING
Prerequisites: BIO 2511, 2513, 2521, 2523, and MAT 1313. This course provides an introduction to nursing as a profession, client care concepts, and the roles of the nurse. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, quality care. Theoretical foundations to the nursing process provide a decision making framework in developing effective clinical judgment. The student will learn basic nursing skill needed to implement the nursing process. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe client-centered care in diverse health care settings.
