CRJ 120 — Introduction to Corrections
This course provides an in depth look at the past, present and future of corrections, the “third branch” of the criminal justice system It examines the purposes of corrections and punishment throughout history and highlights the many subcomponents of modern day corrections The course will focus on issues facing the correctional system today and gain an appreciation for contemporary real-world correctional practices, including the emphasis on community based corrections and new technological advances
